Free DraftKings data API: what the plan includes
What the Free plan covers: 500 requests per month, 20 per minute, the same captured datasets as paid plans, and where its limits appear.
Editorial review: · Not a live coverage report
What Free includes
A Free account gets 500 API requests per UTC calendar month at 20 per minute, with up to five active keys. It reads the same captured datasets as paid plans: sportsbook observations, Pick6 rows and history, DFS records, and ESPN statistics.
| Plan | Price | Requests per UTC month | Requests per minute | Pick6 stream | Signed webhooks |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0/month | 500 | 20 | No | No |
| Developer | $49/month | 10,000 | 60 | Yes | No |
| Production | $149/month | 50,000 | 120 | Yes | Yes |
One API call is one request, whatever the page size. A 100-row page costs the same as a 1-row page, so ask for larger pages when you need more rows. Requests do not roll over.
What Free does not include
The resumable Pick6 stream and signed webhooks are paid delivery features. On Free, poll /api/v1/pick6/history instead. Free also carries no redistribution rights, and neither does any other plan.
The stream needs Developer or Production, and webhooks need Production. A Free key that calls the stream receives 403. See webhooks and streams.
How far the allowance goes
A 30-day month has 43,200 minutes. Spread evenly, 500 requests is about one call every 86 minutes, so Free suits prototypes and scheduled pulls rather than continuous polling.
| Use | Requests | Fits Free? |
|---|---|---|
| One coverage check and five sample pages | 6 | Yes, many times over |
| 10 pages, once a day | About 300 per month | Yes |
| 10 pages, twice a day | About 600 per month | No |
| Polling one endpoint every 86 minutes | About 500 per month | Only if it is your only call |
| Polling every 5 minutes | About 8,640 per month | No. This fits Developer only with no other traffic |
Valid calls count even when empty or when a dataset is unavailable, and invalid queries that authenticate first count as well. Build with small fixtures once you know the shape, so tests do not spend quota.
A sensible free evaluation
Answer one question at a time, and use few requests for each. The order below spends about ten requests and shows whether the data fits your project.
- Call
/api/v1/coverageto see what is stored right now. - Pull five rows of the dataset you care about, filtered to one sport.
- Check
observed_at,staleand whether your stat or market exists. - Request a second page and confirm
paginationbehaves as you expect. - Read the history endpoint for one sport to see how much change data exists.
- Decide using what came back, not what you expected.

Move to Developer ($49/month) when you run scheduled polling or need the stream. Move to Production ($149/month) when you need signed webhooks or a larger allowance. Plans differ in allowance and delivery, not in which captured datasets you can read.
If a dataset does not cover your need, a paid plan will not change that. Today's limits are the same on every plan: As of 2026-11-03, native sportsbook scopes cover New York NFL, NHL, college basketball and college football game lines and New York NHL Shots on Goal, points, assists, saves, goalscorers, power-play points and first-period shots. Read snapshots and streamed changes through the sportsbook endpoints. ESPN-attributed DraftKings moneyline, spread and total observations are also available across eight leagues. Current scope inventory is listed at /api/v1/sportsbook/scopes. Recording began around 2026-11-03. Retained history is short, and it is not a complete opening-to-close archive. It does not contain seasons of past lines, and there is no public graded-results endpoint.
The pricing page shows checkout state and current terms. Requests reset at the UTC calendar-month boundary, not on your invoice date.
Free alternatives worth knowing
If you need sportsbook props or long history, a free plan here will not supply them. Check provider comparisons for sourced notes on what other services publish, including where they are stronger. Scraping a site directly is not a free alternative: it carries its own reliability and terms risk, which the scraper guide covers.
Try it

Questions
Is the DraftKings API free?
This independent service has a Free plan with 500 requests per UTC calendar month and 20 per minute. Paid plans raise the allowance. DraftKings does not publish or endorse this service.
Does the Free plan have less data than paid plans?
No. Every plan reads the same captured datasets. Paid plans add a larger allowance and delivery features: the Pick6 stream on Developer and Production, and webhooks on Production.
What happens when I run out of free requests?
Authenticated calls return 429 until the next UTC calendar month. There is no rollover and no automatic overage charge on the Free plan.
